ac-co.ai docs

Getting started

What ac-co.ai is, how the product docs are organized, and where to go next.

ac-co.ai is the AI back office for UK business — accounting, tax filing, payroll, legal, and client-facing tools in one connected workspace. This section is the user-facing knowledge base: what each product does, how to set it up, and how to get the most out of it day to day.

Pick a product from the sidebar to get started, or use search (⌘K / Ctrl K) to jump straight to an answer. Looking for API references and integration guides instead? Head over to Developers.

Signing in

Every ac-co.ai product signs you in through one shared identity provider — you don't create a separate account per product. When you open any product (accounting, self-assessment, payroll, e-sign, and so on) for the first time in a session, you're taken to a single sign-in page; once you're signed in there, every other ac-co.ai product recognizes the same session, so you move between them without signing in again.

Organizations and workspaces

Everything you create — invoices, tax returns, documents, contracts — belongs to an organization, not to you personally. An organization is your firm's or client's workspace. You can belong to more than one organization at once — for example, a bookkeeper working across several clients' books, or an accountant who also has their own practice's workspace.

Switching organizations

If your account belongs to more than one organization, an organization switcher appears in the top navigation of the app you're using. Picking a different organization there switches which workspace's data you're looking at across the whole product — invoices, documents, settings, everything scopes to whichever organization is currently active. Switching reloads the page so the new workspace takes effect everywhere at once.

If you only belong to one organization, there's nothing to switch — you'll always land in that workspace.

Where settings live

Each product keeps its own Settings area for things specific to that product — for example, the accounting app's Settings → Developers page is where you create API keys for the Public API. There isn't a single combined settings page across every product; look for a "Settings" link in the navigation of whichever app you're in.

Getting help

  • In-product AI copilot — several products (accounting, Self Assessment) include a chat assistant that can answer questions about your own data and, in Self Assessment's case, cite the relevant HMRC guidance directly.
  • This knowledge base — pick your product from the sidebar for setup steps and common "how do I…" answers.
  • Developers — if you're integrating with ac-co.ai programmatically rather than using the product UI, see the Developers section for the Public API, authentication, and SDKs.
