The Legal app is an AI-assisted legal workspace: a document-grounded assistant for asking questions and getting tracked-changes suggestions on your contracts, diligence reviews across many documents at once, a library of UK legal playbooks, and an AI drafting wizard for producing a first draft of a new contract.

Key concepts

• Matters — a matter is a workspace for one piece of legal work — its own documents, its own assistant conversation, its own reviews — so everything related to one deal or dispute stays together.
• The Assistant — a chat interface grounded in your uploaded documents. Answers cite the specific document and passage they're drawn from, and where it suggests a wording change, you can accept or reject that change inline like tracked changes in a word processor.
• Tabular reviews — a diligence grid: rows are documents, columns are questions ("Does this NDA have a mutual confidentiality clause?"), and each cell is answered by AI reading the relevant document — useful for reviewing many contracts against the same checklist at once.
• Workflows — 14 built-in UK legal playbooks (e.g. NDA review, vendor contract check) that walk you through a standard review or task step by step, alongside any custom ones your firm has added.
• Contracts drafting wizard — turns a brief into a structured plan and then a full draft, with an editor that supports right-click "improve with AI" on any section.

How do I…

…ask a question about a document?

Open the Assistant, attach the document (or matter) you're asking about, and ask your question in plain language — the answer will cite exactly where in the document it came from.

…review a contract and suggest changes?

Ask the Assistant to review the document — where it proposes a change, it shows up as an inline suggestion you can accept or reject, the same way you would review a colleague's tracked changes.

…run a diligence review across several documents?

Start a tabular review, add your documents as rows and your questions as columns — each cell fills in automatically, with the source document behind every answer.

…run a standard legal check (like an NDA review)?

Pick the matching workflow from the Workflows library and follow its steps — it routes you to the Assistant or a tabular review as appropriate for that playbook.

…draft a new contract?

Start the Contracts drafting wizard with a brief describing what you need; it proposes a plan, drafts the contract section by section, and lets you refine any section with AI before exporting.

…send a finished contract for signature?

From a contract's detail page, use the Sign action to hand it off to E-Sign, where you can add recipients and send it for signature without re-uploading the document.
